Poltava State medical and dental university-General medicine The students of general medicine at the Ukrainian and Medical Stomatological Academy complete their course in six years. During the initial two years, the students widen their knowledge of fundamental medical subjects. They gather information on histology, anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology and physiology. In the next three years, the students are trained at the clinical departments. The coursework also includes study of surgery, therapy, pediatrics, infectious diseases, obstetrics and gynecology and ophthalmology. On completing six years of intensive studies, the students are awarded General physician degree. Dentistry The Department of Dentistry at the college has been training medical students for the past 30 years. The duration of the course is of 5 years. The first two years deal with basic subjects like microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy, histology and physiology, to name a few. The students are introduced to the clinical aspect of the career from the third year. The students receive the degree of a qualified dentist on completing the course.
